Andrew Garfield, a British-American actor, achieved recognition worldwide through his portrayal of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Amazing Spider-Man film series.
Garfield was born on the 20th of August in 1983 in Los Angeles, California, to a British mother and an American father.
When Andrew was 3, his family relocated to Epsom, Surrey, UK, and he started acting early on with performances in school plays and local theater.
In 2004, Garfield completed his education at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, and soon after began his career in theater.
His initial professional stage performance was in the Donmar Warehouse’s staging of “Beautiful Thing” and he went on to be in productions of “The Laramie Project” and “A Streetcar Named Desire.” In 2007, he had his West End debut in the play “The Overwhelming.”
In 2010, Garfield rose to fame for his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Amazing Spider-Man movie series. The initial installment, The Amazing Spider-Man, was released in 2012 and was a great success financially. The follow-up, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, was released two years later in 2014.
Apart from his involvement in the Spider-Man series, Garfield has been cast in a variety of other films, such as The Social Network (2010), Never Let Me Go (2010), and Hacksaw Ridge (2016), where he was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Actor category.
Throughout his career, Garfield has been involved in theater.
In 2017, he was presented with the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for his role in the live production of “Angels in America.”
As of 2021, Andrew Garfield, has appeared to still be continuing work as an actor in films and television shows, like The Eyes of Tammy Faye and Under the Silver Lake. Additionally, he has provided his voice for a video game, Call of Duty: Warzone.
